Dr. Srikumar Banerjee assumed charge as the
new Chairman, Atomic Energy Commission and Secretary, Department of Atomic
Energy today, November 30, 2009 in a simple handing over/taking over ceremony at
the Headquarters of DAE at Mumbai. Dr. Anil Kakodkar, while handing over charge
said that he has been fortunate to have spent his professional life at the
Department of Atomic Energy. He further said that he goes with a feeling of
satisfaction and said that he is sure that under the able leadership of Dr. S.
Banerjee, the Department of Atomic Energy will continue to fulfill its
commitments to the nation, be it generation of electricity or applications of
radiation technology and other advanced technoligies for various socieltal
purposes. Dr. Banerjee while thanking Dr. Kakodkar, said that he, with the help
of all the collegues in the Department and its units, would carry forward the
legacy being left behind by him. He stated that at the Department of Atomic
Energy all decisions are taken after lot of deliberations and are always the
outcome of collective wisdom.
