            Today (November21, 2006) an agreement has been signed on the establishment of the ITER (International Thermo-nuclear Experimental Reactor) International Fusion Energy Organisation for the joint implementation of the ITER Project. The signatories  are the seven parties of the ITER viz. China, European Union, India, Japan, The Republic of Korea, The Russian Federation and the United States of America. The ceremony was held at the Elysee Palace in Paris and hosted by the Present of the French Republic Mr. M. Jacques Chirac and by the President of the European Commission, Mr. M. Jose Manuel Durao Barroso.

 

On the occasion, Dr. Anil Kakodkar, Chairman, Atomic Energy Commission who is heading the Indian delegation addressed the gathering.
