Low backache - Is it a headache ?

Under the auspices of the Medical section an awareness programme was conducted on 23 rd August, 2000 for the benefit of all the employees and their family members on the topic " Low back ache-Is it a head ache". Dr. Elangovan Chellappa, Asst. Professor (Orthopaedics), Tirunelveli Medical College conducted the programme.

Dr. S.P.Sukhatme, Chairman, Atomic Energy Regulatory Board (AERB) visited the plant site on 16.7.2000.A presentation was made by the plant authorities on the plant performance, energy conservation measures being taken and safety achievements. Dr. Sukhatme signed in the visitors book and also wrote the following message which is reproduced below:

"I have enjoyed my visit to HWP (K). The plant is working very well both from the point of view of performance and safety. My congratulations and best wishes for the future."

Shri H.S.Kamath, Chairman and Chief Executive of HWB visited the plant on 8.9.2000 and Emergency Shelter cum Multipurpose Hall . The Emergency Shelter has breathing air facility for four hundred personnel for two hours duration. Shri Kamath appreciated the efforts put by the plant personnel for achieving reduction in the specific energy while achieving the targetted production.

Shri. G.R.Srinivasan, Chairman,SARCOP along with his team visited the plant site on 22.9.2000.He appreciated the efforts of Heavy Water Board in mastering the technology for production of heavy water using Hydrogen Sulphide - Water exchange process.

Workshop/Seminar

Three day workshop on works contract, finance, accounts and administrative matters was organised by senior officers from the central office of HWB during 21.6.2000 to 23.6.2000. The workshop was attended by 22 officers of HWP(Kota) and HWP(Baroda), in the grade of SO(F) and above.The workshop was followed by a written test on 26.5.2000.
