| R&D Pilot Plant at Talcher attains stable
operation
The R&D Pilot Plant for development of technology and production of D2EHPA, set up at HWP, Talcher at a cost of Rs. 62 lakhs, has attained stable operation. Important achievements in process optimisation studies include standardisation of the batch synthesis process with maximization of batch yield to 133% of design intent and development of necessary quality control checks and procedures to maintain product quality at par or even better than international standards, thereby achieving 100% batch acceptance level. |
In the area of market acceptability studies, over 5.5 MT of saleable
product has been produced and about 2.8 MT sold to several industrial consumers, both in
private and public sector, earning more than Rs. 12.5 lakhs in revenue.
Quality evaluation studies carried out at Regional Research Laboratory, Bhubaneshwar and Atomic Minerals Division, Hyderabad have shown excellent result and the feed back on product quality received from the consumers is also very encouraging. The product is sold under the brand name TOPS99 Metal Extractant. |

| HEAVY WATER PLANT (Baroda) Prashamsa Patra Heavy Water Plant (Baroda) had won the National Safety Award - 1998 "Prashansa Patra" from National Safety Council of India. The award was presented to the plant on 19th May, 2000 by Hon'ble Chief Minister of Maharashtra and Hon'ble Union Labour Minister, at a function held at the new premises of National Safety Council, Navi Mumbai.

3000 Accident Free Days A function was arranged at Heavy Water Plant, Baroda on 10.7.2000 to celebrate completion of 3000 accident free days and to distribute safety memento that becomes due after every 500 accident free days. Shri M.S.R. Sarma, (Retd.) Executive Director, OPSD, AERB was the Chief Guest. The programme was presided over by Shri D.S ' Lamba Director (Operation), HWB & attended by Safety professionals from nearby industries also.

| HEAVY WATER PLANT (Manuguru) Best Plant Performance Award Heavy Water Plant (Manuguru) won the Best Plant Performance Award for the year 1999-2000. The award was received by Shri A. L. N. Rao, General Manager, Heavy Water Plant (Manuguru) from Shri H. S. Kamath, Chairman and Chief Executive, HWB on 19t' September, 2000 at a simple function held at HWP (Manuguru). This award has been won for its impressive performance in production, safety, industrial relations and energy conservation measures effected. Efforts for ISO 9002 & ISO 14001HWP (Manuguru) has undertaken training programme for implementing ISO-9002 and ISO-14001 at HWP, Manuguru. The following training programmes were conducted and the training was imparted to the employees of HWP (Manuguru) by the consultants - FICCI and Quality Forum of India Ltd. 1.
