MAIN EVENTS

Heavy Water Board signed a MoU with M/s. Chemithon Engineers Ltd., a Global leader in the field of sulphonation and S03 Flue Gas conditioning, on 12th September, 2000 for transfer of technology developed by HWB on the Flue Gas conditioning system with ammonia dozing. Shri H. S. Kamath, Chairman & Chief Executive of Heavy Water Board and Shri S. N. Trivedi, Managing Director, Chemithon Engineers Ltd., signed the MoU. This technology has already been proved at the Captive Power Plant of Heavy Water Plant (Manuguru).

Environment being one of the major issues in the coming years, this technology transfer would go a long Way in providing Eco-friendly solutions to various power plants and other dust-emitting industries like cement, steel, etc. Transfer

of Flue Gas Conditioning technology from HWB to outside agency is an important milestone and will be a forerunner for such technology transfers in the hi-tech area.


HEAVY WATER EXPORTED AGAIN !

A contract was entered into between Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) and Korean Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) on 28.6.2000 for supply of 16 MT heavy water to KEPCO. Shri R.M.Premkumar, Additional secretary, DAE and Shri Tai-Sun Kim, General Manager, Nuclear procurement department, KEPCO, signed the contract. The heavy water has been delivered to KEPCO

R & D WORK ON AMMONIA ABSORPTION
REFRIGERATION

A Memorandum Of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Heavy Water Board, DAE, Govt. of India and M/s Thermax  Limited, Pune on 1.5.2000 to undertake joint development through Research and Development (R&D) facility, at HWP (Hazira). and develop process technology for Ammonia Absorption Refrigeration (AAR) for a) its incorporation in the heavy water process technology and b) marketing the same as a package in absorption cooling products. The MOU was signed by Shri H.S.Kamath, Chairman & Chief Executive HWB and Shri Prakash Kulkarni, Joint Managing Director, Thermax Ltd.

AGREEMENT WITH NFL

An agreement was signed between Heavy Water Board and National Fertilizers Limited (NFL) on 29.4.2000 for procurement of heavy water produced by HWP(Nangal).The agreement was signed by Shri. H.S.Kamath. Chaiman & Chief Executive, HWB, and Shri. Dinesh Singh Chairman & Managing Director, NFL. This agreement takes effect from 1.4.2000 and will be valid for ten years.

CELEBRATION OF NATIONAL TECHNOLOGY DAY

National Technology Day was celebrated on 11th May, 2000 at all the Heavy Water Plants. The celebration covered arranging exhibitions, essay writing competitions, elocution competitions and interaction with public through plant visits.
