Joined Department of Atomic Energy in 1965 as a Trainee of the 9th Batch of Training School of the erstwhile Atomic Energy Establishment, Trombay (AEET). After completion of training, joined the Chemical Engineering Division of the then AEET in 1966. He joined the Heavy Water Projects in 1969 and was associated with design, construction, quality assurance and commissioning of Heavy Water Plants based on Hydrogen Sulphide Water Exchange (H₂S - H₂O) process. In the course of development of Heavy Water technology,  he has held various positions as General manager, Heavy Water Plant (Manuguru), Sr. General Manager, Director(Operations) and Executive Director(Operations) before taking over as Chief Executive of HWB.

As Chairman & Chief Executive of HWB, apart from guiding and overseeing all day to day activities within the Heavy Water Board, he also carries the responsibilities for long term planning for production of heavy water, development of new technologies to take care of the technological changes in other related fields, cost reduction, improvement in productivity, etc.

He is also serving as a Director on the Boards of Rashtriya Chemicals   and Fertilizers Ltd., Krishak Bharati Co-operative Ltd. and National Fertilizers Limited.
