NUCLEAR FUEL COMPLEX-HEAVY WATER BOARD - TRAINING SCHOOL ORIENTATION COURSE 2001

Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) offers excellent career opportunities for graduate engineers and, in order to meet the growing demands of the man power of the Industries & Minerals sectors of the DAE, applications are invited for one year Orientation Course (OC2001) starting from September 2001 at NFC-HWB Training school at Hyderabad. Selected candidates after successful completion of the training course are appointed as Scientific Officers in DAE.
The activities of the major I&M sectors of DAE are
Nuclear Fuel Complex (NFC) has developed manufacturing capabilities and manufactures nuclear fuels for various types of power reactors and other core components, special materials and seamless tubes of various alloys.
Heavy Water Board (HWB) is responsible for process development, design, engineering, construction and operation & maintenance of technologically complex Heavy Water Plants. There are seven heavy water plants in the country at Kota, Baroda, Hazira, Thal, Tutucorin, Manuguru, and Talcher with corporate office in Mumbai.
Bhabha Atomic Research Center (BARC) in its fuel reprocessing & nuclear waste management facilities undertakes design, engineering, construction and operation of reprocessing and nuclear waste management plants.
The I&M activities of the Board of Research in Isotope Technology (BRIT) under DAE include processing of radio isotopes, radiation processing/hygienation of medical products, food and spices etc. and design & development of radiation technology & industrial products
.


ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

  • Minimum Qualification is BE/ BTech/ BSc Engg/ B.Sc.(Tech).
  • Minimum qualifying marks for each degree is 60% or equivalent as declared by the university.

Applicants should note the Discipline Code no. carefully. Select one discipline applicable to them (as per Table-1) and use the same in the given Application Form for Orientation Course – 2001
Note:
Membership of professional bodies in the field of engineering does not qualify a candidate to apply unless he/she has basic engineering degree like B.E./B.Tech./B.Sc.(Engg.)/B.Sc.(Tech) from a recognized university / institution.

Age:
Not more than 26 years as on Ist September 2001. Relaxation in age by five years for SC/ ST candidates and by three years for OBC is admissible.
Note:
Those appearing for the final degree / qualifying examination and expecting to meet the minimum qualifying marks are also eligible to appear for the written test and interview. Final results of qualifying degree (with all eligibility criteria) must be submitted by 31st of October, 2001 if selected for training school.
Application fee (non refundable)
is Rs.200/- for general and OBC categories. SC/ST and Dependent of Defence Personnel killed in Action(DODPKIA) are exempted.

SELECTION PROCEDURE:
Selection involves a written test screening in each of the above-mentioned four disciplines followed by an interview. The written test scheduled to be conducted on 20th May, 2001 simultaneously at the following centers given in Table 2.

Candidates are required to write two choices of centers in order of preferences. No Traveling Allowance will be paid to the candidates appearing for Written Test.
The names of the candidate who qualify for appearing in interview based on written test performance will be available on HWB web-site (www.heavywaterboard.org) and DAE website (www.dae.gov.in) simultaneously during the 3rd week of July. Individual interview call letter will also be posted. The Interviews will be conducted at Hyderabad starting from Ist week of August 2001. Outstation candidates will be paid sleeper class train fare or actual fare whichever is less. Final selection for the orientation course will be made in the order of merit from the short-listed candidates found medically fit.
TRAINING & STIPEND:
Postgraduate level training for duration of one year will be offered in chemical, electrical Instrumentation and mechanical engineering disciplines only.
The course is residential and trainees will have to stay at the training school hostel of NFC-HWB TRAINING SCHOOL, NFC campus, Hyderabad. The course comprises of lectures, project work and plant visit. During Training period, the trainees will be paid a monthly stipend of Rs. 8,000/- and one time book allowance of Rs. 4,000/-.
APPOINTMENT & PLACEMENT:
On successful completion of the orientation course, the trainees will be appointed in the grade of Scientific Officer (C) [Rs. 8,000-275-13,500] with up to four advance increments depending on the performance during the Course, at any of the I&M activities of DAE. The total emoluments inclusive of all allowances (DA, CCA & HRA) will be around Rs 16,000/- per month depending on the place of appointment. A Comprehensive Contributory Health Service Scheme (CHSS) for employees and their dependent family members is available. Selected Candidates for ORIENTATION COURSE 2001 are required to execute a BOND for Rs. one lakh and will be under contractual obligation to serve the Department for a minimum period of 3 years after successful completion of the course. While in service, there are good opportunities to pursue higher studies leading to MTech and/ or PhD.
HOW TO APPLY:
Use a photocopy of the accompanying format as Application Form. DAE does not issue any separate Application Form. Answer all queries in the Application Form and the attached Admit Card. Do not separate the Admit card portion.

NOTE: Candidates working as regular employees/ trainees in any State or Central Government/ Semi-Government/ Public Sector Undertaking/ Autonomous Organizations or any Organization, which is aided by the Government, should apply through proper channel. In case they anticipate any delay in forwarding of the application, they may submit an advance copy.
