This
facility is available at AMD HQ, Hyderabad and Central Region,
Nagpur. While the system at Hyderabad is Philips model PW 1410,
the one at Nagpur is Philips PW X’UNIQUE
II. It provides rapid and low-cost non-destructive elemental analysis
of major and minor oxides and a number of trace elements.
A wide variety of geological materials
such as rocks, minerals, panned mineral concentrates, soil and beneficiation
products are presently analysed for some thirty seven elements depending
upon the requirement and nature of geological material. Important
areas of analysis are
Rapid
quantitative analysis of Nb-Ta in columbite-tantalite and related
multiple oxides
and Sn-Nb-Ta in cassiterite;
Y and Ce in polymineral
concentrates and beneficiation products and recovery plants for xenotime
(quality control);
Routine
determination of trace elements like Rb, Sr, Y, Zr, Nb, Ba,
Ta, Pb, Zn, Cu, La, Ce and others in a variety of rocks.
