Direct current arc emission spectrograph (DCAES) of Jarrel Ash microphotometer (with Hilger Large Quartz prism) is available at AMD HQ Hyderabad, Southern Region, Bangalore, and Eastern Region, Jamshedpur. It provides qualitative scan of constituent elements in the sample and rapid quantitative determination of a few trace elements including precious ones like Ag & Au, with the sample requirement being a few milligrams. 

The data from the laboratory are used by geologists

for studying the distribution of elements in various geological materials,

to find favourable environment for prospecting the desired elements, and

for petrological interpretations.
