Ore dressing
laboratory located at Hyderabad is engaged in the field of mineral
processing.
Besides fulfilling the mandate of
serving the various units of Department
of Atomic Energy (DAE) in
trying to find ways and means for economic and optimal processing
of various ores of atomic minerals, this laboratory has undertaken
investigation on flow-sheet development, process optimization
in the field of mineral beneficiation for various public and private
mineral based organizations. The laboratory is well equipped with
facilities for characterization of the feed, intermediate streams
and end-products, and basic and advanced experiments as well as bench
and pilot-plant scale beneficiation tests. Facilities for mineralogical,
chemical, surface and particulate characterization form an essential
component.
Recently, a Technology Demonstration
Pilot Plant (TDPP) was set up at UCIL complex, Jaduguda. The plant
is envisaged as a centralised Departmental facility for carrying
out large scale process development studies on various uranium ore
samples of the country to confirm the results obtained in the laboratory
on bench scale experiments and also to generate the required process
engineering parameters for scale up and design.
